Standard Probes
 
       
 

A comprehensive range of types and sizes of standard probe for use with any Mercer electronic gauge.
Standard probes are available in two styles:

  1. Axial – cable in line with the body
  2. Radial – cable at right angles to the body

All standard probes operate on the principle of differential inductance (half-bridge), and are designed to suit most common applications.
For comparison, the old Mercer equivalent is noted in brackets under the types listed below.
All standard probes are available to suit other gauge makers – contact us with your requirements.

    Lever Probes
         
    TYPE 499
    TYPE 420
    TYPE GT31

    The type 499 side acting probe combines rugged construction with high precision. The stylus is mounted on parallel reeds which virtually eliminates the 'cosine error' associated with mechanical lever gauges.
    Stylus operating force is adjustable between 2 and 20g in an upward or downward direction. The double knuckle friction joint combines protection for the stylus with the means for positioning it in awkward locations.
    With its low operating force, the 499 is ideal for the gauging of delicate or highly polished materials.

    The purpose of the type 420 miniature lever probe is to simplify the measurement of bores using electronic gauges.
    The probe is designed to be secured in slots machined into the body of the gauging arbor or plug gauge.
    Due to its small size, the 420 may be built into gauging fixtures for the measurement of lengths or narrow lands.

    One piece housing with 'top' and 'end' dovetails, the robust and rugged construction of the GT31 makes it ideal for use in the harshest of workshop environments.
    The 40mm stylus is balanced and pivoted on ball bearings, and is protected against lateral jarring by two safety clutches.
    A key feature is the automatic reversal of the stylus direction, while the polarity of the gauge reading remains unchanged.
